Shoestring Budget Renovations - Renovations

When Tim and I bought a large period property last summer, we took on a major challenge. We were the proud new owners of a large three-story house, but our bank balance was much smaller than the project we had on our hands.

Between two full-time jobs, we managed to squeeze every available minute out of the day for our DIY make-over, researching the market for the best deals available. The hall was the first project, which was transformed for just under £1000. Sticking to our budget was as hard as working through the cold winter nights. We wanted to transform a dark and dated hall into a bright and welcoming space to showcase some of our colourful art and rugs.

For the first four editions we are doing direct targeted distribution. The magazine is sent to 10,000 homeowners across the greater central belt, all of whom are either planning to sell, have just sold or have just bought a property. This strategic distribution will continue next year, however, we will also have it in the shops for sale by next summer. A smaller number also gets distributed to IFA's and brokers across the central belt.
